In BirdVis we propose Tag Cloud Lenses as a way to assess the relative ``importance'' of set of variables defined on a domain (e.g. US map). In the screenshots below, these variables represent habitat preferences for a bird species in the region covered by the lens in a certain time window.

We allow the use of multiple lenses to uncover regional differences on habitat preferences and also allow lenses to be coordinated in multiple views to reveal changes in habitat preference in time.

The same idea of coordinated views can be used to investigate different species.

In BirdVis as well as occurrence maps (top row) we also feature occurrence variation maps (bottom row) with independent colormap controller. Note how the occurrence variation sign and intensity is not so clear on the top row.

Here is an example of playing with the colormap controller to hightlight two ranges of occurrence probability.
